Grace Blanket Drive - In Honor of Piper Grace
Warming Hearts. Blanketing Babies. Striving to give every NICU child a warm, special blanket every night.
Grace Blankets was created in 2014 in honor and memory of Piper Grace, who lived the entirety of her tragically short 10-month life at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. From the beginning of her parents’ NICU journey, they yearned to give back, and acknowledge their love for the NICU staff at Children's Mercy. After witnessing the struggles many nurses would have to track down blankets for the babies, especially when the patient count was at an all time high, and the tendency to resort to stark white hospital linens, they inspired to do something about it. They had received so many adorable gifts and blankets during their stay, much to the liking of the nurses, that they thought to themselves, “Imagine the warmth a new special blanket would give the staff, the parents, the babies in need! A blanket with color, a blanket with pizzazz, a blanket sent with love.”
With the mission of extending their blanket giving to multiple hospital locations in various cities and increasing their blanket donations, Grace Blankets hopes to make NICU experiences a little more comfortable for precious babies and their parents. Blankets donated can be used as gifts for families in need, isolette covers, bed linens and in NICU linen supply rotations. They’ve also had very special blankets saved by hospitals for use by their bereavement committees to comfort grieving families.
KicKee Pants supported their sweet cause by offering free shipping on the purchase of any blanket orders from our website being shipped to the Grace Blanket Drive for the past 3 years.
